How deals are ranked
Where the prices come from
Stores choose to list with us by sending a product feed. We don't list a store that hasn't asked to be listed. Feeds refresh every few hours (hourly for Pro stores), and each deal shows when its price last changed. A product that drops out of a store's feed comes off the site on the next import.
What the big number means
- Ammo: price per round, with shipping included.
- Reloading: price per primer, bullet, case or pound of powder, with shipping included, when the product says how many are in the box.
- Guns, parts and accessories: the total price with shipping.
Shipping comes from the store's feed when it's there, otherwise from the store's shipping rules (for example, free over a set order amount). When we don't know shipping, the deal says so.
How a deal is scored
The score is how far the price is below what the same thing usually costs:
- Ammo is compared with the 30-day median price per round for its caliber across every listed store.
- Everything else gets the better of two comparisons, each only when we have the data: the same product (matched by UPC) at other stores over the last 30 days, and the listing's own price over the last 30 days. The second one is how a genuine price drop shows up.
A retailer's “list price” or “compare at” price is shown for reference but never used to score a deal, because anyone can type a high list price.
How the list is ordered
- The default order is the biggest discount first. Ties go to the lower price.
- You can sort by lowest price or by most recently changed instead. Payment plays no part in any sort.
- A store can pay for one Sponsored slot above the list. It is always labeled Sponsored, and the same deal still appears in its normal place in the ranked list.
- Pro stores get faster refreshes and more tools, not better placement.
Things to check before you buy
Prices and stock can change between our last check and checkout, so confirm the total on the store's site. Firearms ship to a licensed dealer (FFL), and some products can't be shipped to some states; deals show the states a store has told us it won't ship to. Buying, shipping and legal compliance are between you and the store.
See something wrong? Tell us and we'll look into it.
